    Pioneira da performance, Marina Abramovic iniciou sua carreira no começo dos anos 1970. Seu trabalho explora as relações entre performer e audiência, os limites do corpo e as possibilidades da mente. Abramovic é ainda fundadora do MAI – Marina Abramovic Institute e criadora do Método Abramovic, exercícios para explorar os limites do corpo e da mente.

     

    Marina Abramovic é formada em artes. Principais mostras individuais: Serpentine Galleries, Londres, (2019), Sesc Pompeia, São Paulo (2015), MoMA, NY (2010), Guggenheim Museum, NY (2005), Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris (1990). Dentre as mostras coletivas: 45ª (1993) e a 47ª Bienal de Veneza (1997) – quando ganhou o Leão de Ouro de Melhor Artista; Documenta 13, 9, 8 e 6 (2012, 1992, 1988 e 1977); 28ª, 18ª e 16ª edições da Bienal de São Paulo (2008, 1985 e 1981), 7ª Bienal de la Habana (2000).

    A pioneer of performance art, Marina Abramovic began her career in the early 1970s. Her work explores the relationships between performer and audience, the limits of the body and the possibilities of the mind. Abramovic is also a founder of the Marina Abramovic Institute (MAI) and the creator of the Abramovic Method, consisting of exercises to explore the limits of the body and the mind.

     

    Marina Abramovic holds a degree in the visual arts. Her main solo shows have been held at the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris (1990); Guggenheim Museum, New York (2005); MoMA, New York (2010), Sesc Pompeia, São Paulo (2015); and Serpentine Galleries, London, (2019). Group shows she has participated in include the 45th and 47th editions of the Venice Biennale (1993 and 1997, winning the Golden Lion award for best artist at the latter); Documenta 6, 8, 9 and 13 (1977, 1988, 1992 and 2012); the 16th, 18th and 28th editions of the Bienal de São Paulo (1981, 1985 and 2008), and the 7th Bienal de Havana (2000).
