Light is the guiding thread in the work of Iván Navarro, who often explores themes that question society, politics and even the history of art itself, with messages conveyed subtly through his titles, colors and symbols. It is worth noting that the artist was born under the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, whose tactics included the cutting of electrical power to impose curfews on the population. Light, therefore, is essential to Navarro’s personal memory and becomes a central element in his installations.

His “cosmic sculptures” were inspired by images captured by telescopes around the world. In vivid colors, they depict mixtures of gases and cosmic dust in the universe, seeking to establish connections between abstraction, the infinity of the cosmos and the human drive for power and survival.
