Rochelle Costi

A obra de Rochelle Costi trata da memória afetiva. Essa que normalmente levanta a poeira do nosso subconsciente, acionada por um dispositivo: a imagem. Sua pesquisa parte de seu próprio repertório imagético, para então ser formalizada através da técnica apurada da fotografia, vídeos e instalações. O colecionismo e a fotografia não apenas se complementam, como também se fundem, levando o espectador a um confronto íntimo com esse universo, que passa a ser comum a todos.

 

Obteve formação em Comunicação Social pela PUC-RS e especialização pela Saint Martin School of Art e Camera Work, em Londres. Dentre os espaços em que apresentou mostras individuais estão: Casa do Povo, São Paulo, Brasil (2024); Solar dos Abacaxis, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil (2023); Estúdio Extraordinário, Itú, Brasil (2023); Oficinas Culturais Oswald de Andrade, São Paulo, Brasil (2021); The Photographer’s Gallery, Londres, Inglaterra (2016), Museu de Arte Moderna - MAM, São Paulo (2010); Centro Cultural São Paulo – CCSP, Brasil (2009); Museu da Imagem e do Som, São Paulo, Brasil (2008) e Instituto Tomie Ohtake, São Paulo, Brasil (2005). Rochelle Costi's works deals with affective memory – that which normally stirs up the dust in our unconscious, activated by a device: the image. Her research is based on her own image repertoire, to then be formalized through refined photographic technique, videos and installations. Collecting and photography not only complement one another, but are also merged in her work, bringing the spectator to an intimate confrontation with this universe, which becomes shared by everyone.

 

She holded a BA in social communication from PUC-RS, and a specialist degree from Saint Martin School of Art and Camera Work, in London.
