    Beginning in 1965, Waldemar Cordeiro turned his attention to the intelligibility of the image. Using graphic elements such as letters – which already carry inherent references to sound and visual form – he began to question how easily an image could be read or interpreted by the viewer. To do so, he challenged perception through playful interventions such as overlays, interruptions, and other visual provocations. This line of inquiry laid the groundwork for his pioneering experiments in computer art.

     

     

    A partir de 1965, Waldemar Cordeiro passa a estudar a inteligibilidade da imagem. Por meio de elementos gráficos, como as letras, que já trazem em si conteúdos referenciais de som e imagem, o artista questionava o quão facilmente uma imagem poderia ser compreendida ou interpretada por quem a vê. Para isso, ele desafiava o observador por meio de algumas provocações lúdicas, como superposições, interrupções, etc. Essa pesquisa foi a base para o artista implementar a arte de computador.
