Light is the guiding thread in the work of Iván Navarro, who often deals with themes that question society, politics, and art history. He conveys his messages to the viewer subliminally through the artwork titles, coupled with colors and symbols. His colorful, luminous installations engage in a dialogue with minimalism, stimulating the viewers’ sensory experience and beckoning for interaction.
Iván Navarro has recently been developing research into what he calls “cosmic sculptures,” inspired by images captured from telescopes around the world. These colorful pieces depict large clouds of gas and dust in interstellar space, aiming to establish relationships between abstraction and the infinity of the universe, as well as the human greed for power and striving for survival. Illuminated by LEDs, these works simulate spatial phenomena and are the outcome of research carried out during the pandemic.
