Liliana Porter's work stands on the verge of the absurd and the fantastic. Through references of popular culture and collective memory, the artist uses a sort of acid humor to create pieces that subvert the conventions imposed by daily life and by art itself. Through images and small objects, the artist works on different supports, from photography, videos and installations, placing us in front of allegorical and distorted situations of reality and time. With an impeccable soundtrack, the video “Breaking News” (2016) uses the possibilities of figurative representation to combine the sections usually found in newspapers and magazines.
