Caio Reisewitz’s research takes photography as its main medium. Through technical and thematic refinement, his work evinces an interest in human action and its social and political effects, whether in the natural space or the architectural space. While his photographic technique highlights the dramaticity among shapes, colors and textures, his artistic poetics constructs a nearly dreamlike aesthetic repertoire. These aspects establish a dichotomous dialogue between the real (that which is characteristic of the photographic record) and the chimerical (our own repertoires).

Boracéia (2012) was one of Caio Reisewitz’s first collage works, in which he establishes a relationship between nature, human intervention, the occupation of space and improvisation. The name “boracéia” is an imaginative construction inspired by the Tupi language, creating what looks and sounds like an ancient word carrying an ancestral message whose fragments echo possible meanings: “pora,” what sprouts, and “ceia,” what is shared. Together, they suggest a gesture of offering between what is born and what is offered. In this sense, “boracéia” can be understood as “that which sprouts and is shared,” a symbolic territory where the natural and the human meet.
