The work Sem título [Untitled] (1971), composed of nine pieces, derives from Mira Schendel’s emblematic series known as Objetos Gráficos [Graphic Objects], developed throughout the 1960s and 1970s, when the artist was deeply engaged in the investigation of drawing. In this series, she used sheets of paper, often rice paper, to create compositions that explore the poetic and aesthetic dimensions of language, presenting it as an intuitive and sensorial experience. On these delicate supports, she applied letters and numbers, typographic signs, strokes, and minimalist drawings, frequently employing techniques such as monotype and transfer.

With a trajectory marked by displacement and migratory experiences, Mira Schendel was acutely aware of the barriers imposed by language and culture. Thus, the Objetos Gráficos became a field of investigation into silence, the word and the limits of communication. The lightness of the paper, combined with the precision of the applied elements, results in works of great conceptual rigor and rare visual delicacy, and they were fundamental to her recognition as an artist. Part of this research was presented at the 34th Venice Biennale in 1968.
