In his artistic research, Bosco Sodi engages with the simplicity of natural materials – pigments, sawdust, fibers, wood, and earth – while honoring traditional Latin American concepts and values. The interplay of these elements with the gestural quality of his production lends each work an exceptional character.

The series Moon Sack Paintings evolved from his Sun Paintings, where instead of the traditional canvas Sodi works with the raw texture of burlap sacks used for storing chili peppers, a traditional ingredient in Mexican cuisine. Inspired by the landscape surrounding his studio at the Casa Wabi art center, the paintings still carry the aroma of the chilis. Casa Wabi is a cornerstone of all the artist’s recent research.
