Gaspar Gasparian Brazilian, 1899-1966

His career in photography began in 1940. In 1942 he joined the Foto Cine Club Bandeirantes, and started to participate in exhibitions, both national and international. In 1944, he was granted Anchieta award due his participation in the Salão Paulista de Arte Fotográfica (São Paulo, Brazil). In 1952, however, wins silver medal at the Exposição Internacional de Arte Fotográfica (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). In 1990, he had a major retrospective at MIS (Museu da Imagem e do Som, São Paulo, Brazil) and in 2010 at Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo (Brazil). Later, in 2011, at the Museu Oscar Niemeyer (Curitiba, Brazil). Nearly a dozen works by Gaspar Gasparian were recently purchased by Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation and Tate Modern.
